This tutorial will explain how to set the possession of an unowned DNS zone. Presently, the cPanel and WHM product lacks built-in functionality to assign ownership of an unowned DNS zone.
Follow the below procedure-
- Access the server’s command line as the ‘root’ user through SSH or the “Terminal” in WHM.
- Back up the account data.
- Open the file /var/cpanel/users/$cpuser in your preferred text editor.
Note that “$cpuser” should be replaced with the cPanel username to which the domain will be assigned. - Find the DNS# lines (e.g., “DNS1,” “DNS2,” etc.).
- Add a fresh DNS# line under the last one.
DNS#=domain.tld
Note- “#” should be substituted with a number one greater than the last DNS# line, and “domain.tld” should be substituted with the domain to add to the account. - Save the modifications and exit the text editor.
- Execute the updateuserdomains script-
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/updateuserdomains –forceThis was the end of our article. If you wish to explore the latest KBs, visit our Kb section regularly. Also, check out our latest web hosting plans.
