This guide explains how to reset an account’s site content to its default state using cPanel. You may need to do this if you installed an application for testing and no longer require it or if a configuration change made your website non-functional and you are unable to resolve the issue.
Regardless of the reason, follow the steps below to reset your account’s site content.
This process removes website files and various settings but does not affect email accounts or messages.
Ensure you complete the steps in the given order:
- Remove Installed Applications via Softaculous
- Log in to cPanel.
- Open Softaculous:
- Delete All MySQL and PostgreSQL Databases
- Remove Subdomains, Addon Domains, and Parked Domains
- Log in to cPanel.
- In the Domains section of cPanel:
- Click Subdomains to manage subdomains.
- Click Addon Domains to manage addon domains.
- Click Aliases to manage parked domains.
- Delete All Website Files and Directories
Remove all files under /home/username/public_html, where username is your cPanel account username:- Log in to cPanel.
- Open File Manager:
- In the File Manager Directory Selection dialog box, select Web Root, then click Go.
- Click Select All, then Delete.
- Confirm the deletion by clicking Delete File(s). This removes everything in the public_html directory.
- Remove Any Configured Cron Jobs
- Website Content Reset Complete
Your account’s site content is now restored to its default state.
