The URL of a website may change if it is being moved from one server to another. In this instance, unless the website URL is updated on WordPress, your migrated WordPress installation will not function. Automated website URL updates are possible with the WordPress Toolkit.
The steps below can be used to update a website’s URL:
- Visit WordPress.
- Select the website card that you have moved to.
- Press the button with three dots.
- To update the site URL, click “Update Site URL”.
- The WordPress toolkit will make a comparison between the website that is listed in wp-config.php and the WordPress database and the real one:
- You can click “Back” to go back to the website card if the URLs match and your website is currently up-to-date.
- If the URLs are different, click “Update” to change the WordPress URL to the real URL.
