How to Fix Plesk Panel 500 Internal Server Error

If the Plesk panel fails to open and displays the following error:

500 Internal Server Error

Symptoms:

  • The same issue occurs when accessing any .php file inside %plesk_dir%\admin\htdocs\.
  • The one-time login link command also fails.

Cause:

The file %plesk_dir%\admin\engine\php-cgi.exe is missing.

Resolution:

  1. Restore the missing php-cgi.exe file from another working Plesk server running the same version (e.g., 18.0.53).
  2. If an Antivirus is installed, check if the file was moved to quarantine and restore it.
  3. Add %plesk_dir% to the Antivirus exceptions to prevent future issues.
