How to delete a locale in WHM

June 22, 2022 / cPanel & WHM

In this guide, we will explain to you how to delete a locale in WHM.

What Is a Locale in WHM?

A locale is a setting in Web Host Manager (WHM) that specifies the language and region settings used in the cPanel GUI. The presentation of text, dates, numbers, and system messages for users is controlled by locales. If admins or cPanel users would rather operate in a language other than English, WHM employs locales to give them a tailored experience.

Usually, the English locale that is set by default is sufficient. You can safely remove extra locales that were installed for testing or short-term use if they are no longer needed to maintain a tidy and orderly system.

When Should You Delete a Locale?

You may want to delete a locale in WHM if:

  • The locale is no longer used by any WHM or cPanel users.
  • It was installed for testing or troubleshooting purposes.
  • You want to reduce clutter and simplify language options.

Important: Do not delete a locale that is actively being used by users, as this may cause interface issues for them.
