In this article, we have explained how to setup directory privacy in cPanel for directories. You can password-protect downloads, files, or web pages that you only want certain people to have access to by using Directory Privacy. When you enable this function, anyone attempting to access content in a protected folder will be asked to enter a login and password.
To setup directory privacy in cPanel, follow the steps:
- Log in to cPanel panel.
- Select the “Directory Privacy” option under the “Files” category.
- Select the directory that you desired to guard and click on the “Edit” button.
- Tick the box next to the “Password protect this directory” option.
- Fill in the name.
- Click on the “Save” button.
- You will get a success message.
- Click on the “Go back” button.
- In the “Create User”, you can add the users by typing the username and password.
- You can generate the password using the generator option.
- Then finally click on the “Save” button.
- You will see the password has been set successfully.
- You will see the “Authorised users” as shown in the image given below.
In this manner, additional users may be added to a password-protected directory. We hope you liked our article. Nonetheless, if you run into any problems, we are available to assist you. Simply contact the WHUK’s support staff.
