How to change an addon domain to a primary domain in cPanel

Follow the steps:

  1. Open the WHM interface and log in.
  2. Select the “Transfers” icon.
  3. Select “Convert Addon Domain to Account”

  4. Choose the domain you wish to use to pose as a cPanel login.

  5. A new window will open, and you must fill in the relevant fields there with your username, contact email address, and package details.

  6. At the bottom of the page, select the “Start Conversion” button.

  7. The amount of data, the number of FTP accounts, email accounts, subdomains, etc., will all affect how long the conversion takes. You can use WHM’s “List Accounts” tool to confirm whether the conversion was successful. The new primary domain account should be visible to you.
  8. Moreover, you can use the command line to convert an addon domain to a cPanel account.
    $ whmapi1 convert_addon_initiate_conversion domain=example.com user=example

Follow these steps to convert an addon domain to a primary domain in cPanel. Ensure data is backed up before proceeding. If you no longer need the add-on domain or you don’t want to change it to the primary domain, you can easily remove the add-on domain from cPanel.
