Webhosting-UK-2021-A-Year-In-Review-BLOG-1

It has been a busy year for us at Webhosting UK and looking back, we’re quite surprised at how much we have achieved in such a short time. So, in case some of these things have passed you by, here’s a brief review of what we’ve been up to in 2021.

  1. Patchman website security tool
We started the year off with a bang by launching the Patchman security tool on January 1st. In light of the rise in threats seen during 2020, we thought it important to help customers improve their website security and so teamed up with global security experts, SiteLock, to offer the newly launched Patchman website security tool.
The tool offers robust, automated security for CMS websites, like WordPress. It scans CMS software, the most popular plugins and eCommerce platforms looking for vulnerabilities and, if any are found, it patches them for you. In addition, Patchman also searches your site for malware and automatically removes it.
  2. Updated our website
We undertook a major website update in the middle of 2020 which gave us a new look and better navigation. By early 2021, we were in a position to analyse how well the new site was performing and this time we concentrated on content. Always looking for ways to make our site more helpful to visitors, we decided to add detailed FAQ sections to almost every product page. Hopefully, if you now want to find out more about our products and services, you’ll find the answers to your questions at the bottom of the page. However, if you have other questions, you can always use the website’s live chat feature.
  3. Bringing better SEO
We understand the importance of SEO for our customers but are also aware that optimising a website is an ongoing, time-consuming and technically challenging task. While we know that our security features, like SSL certificates, and fast performing servers, with SSDs and Intel Xeon processors, help improve website ranking, we had been looking for a more comprehensive SEO tool for a while.
In 2021, we launched the marketgoo all-inclusive SEO tool which provides customised help for website owners, helping them analyse their sites and make wide-ranging SEO improvements. From full site audits to optimising page titles, marketgoo helps with submitting sites to search engines, monitoring keyword performance, improving technical optimisation, tracking competitors and more.
  4. Specialised hosting for content creators
The whole concept of specialised services is that they provide the best solutions for customers with specific needs. At Webhosting UK, we already have a range of specialised hosting services for those who use WordPress, Joomla, Magento and Drupal. We also offer bespoke solutions for enterprise customers.
With the growing number of entrepreneurs and influencers now making a living from creating content across a range of social media channels, we decided we were in a position to offer them a comprehensive solution for a website. As a result, we launched our Content Creator Pro Web Hosting in June, enabling creators to bring all their followers together in one place, sell merchandise directly from their website and offer premium or members’ only content.
  5. Moved to new headquarters
In December, Webhosting UK, along with our parent company, The Hyperslice Group, moved to new, state-of-the-art headquarters in the prestigious Platform Tech Hub in the centre of Leeds. While only a short hop from our old home in Morley, this move puts us right at the heart of the region’s flourishing tech industry and in the same building as 80 of the city’s most exciting tech companies.
The move makes it easier for us to commute sustainably, meet with clients, work on new projects and develop innovative relationships with the wealth of talent within the Platform tech hub. The relocation is a key part of our £5M development plan that will see us double our workforce and build a new cutting-edge northern data centre by 2023 and see teams working to develop a range of new, sustainable products for our customers.
  6. New VPN service
With more of our customers implementing remote working over 2020 and 2021, there was an increased need to provide employees with secure ways to connect with business systems when working at home. At the same time, concerns over security and data privacy have seen more internet users looking to keep their browsing secure.
As a result, the end of 2021 sees us finalising plans to launch our new VPN service. Providing secure online connections for up to five devices, including PCs, tablets and smartphones, our VPN services work on Mac, iOS, Windows and Android platforms to encrypt your internet data, hide your identity and prevent others from seeing your online activity.
  7. We reached 2000+ Trustpilot reviews
In 2021, the number of reviews Webhosting UK has been given on Trustpilot exceeded 2000. We are grateful to the customers who volunteered their time to give us a rating and review and are especially happy that we continue to have an overall rating of 4.9/5. This has been consistent over our time on Trustpilot and for us is a clear indication that we are providing the services and experiences our customers need.

Conclusion

As you can see, we have been busy making improvements to what we do right across the year and hopefully, you will have benefitted from them. Next year, we plan to be even more ambitious as we begin to recruit new talent, start building our new data centre and roll out even better solutions.
