- Create a homepage
<\/strong>Before you can display a static homepage, you need to create it first. To do this, follow these steps:\r\n- \r\n
- \u00a0Log into your WordPress Dashboard.<\/li>\r\n
- Scroll to Pages > Add New.

<\/a><\/li>\r\n- Click Save Draft<\/strong>. This saves the page but doesn\u2019t publish it on your website. Before you publish a page, you will need to add your homepage content. Once you are done and happy with how it looks in the preview, click Publish.

<\/a><\/li>\r\n- The new page is live on your website. However, before you make it to your home page, there is one more thing you need to do.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n
- Create a new posts page
<\/strong>As the homepage is where, by default, WordPress displays posts, when you change to a static homepage, you\u2019ll need to create a new page for the posts to be displayed on.
Note:<\/strong> If you do not intend to publish blog posts on your site, you can skip this step.
To create a posts page:\r\n- \r\n
- \u00a0Go back to Posts > Add New Post.\u00a0

- You do not need to add any content to this page. Once it is designated as the \u2018posts page\u2019, WordPress will automatically populate it with your blog posts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n
- Set up your new homepage and posts page
<\/strong>To designate your static homepage and new posts page, follow these steps:\r\n- \r\n
- \u00a0Navigate to Appearance > Themes > Customize > Homepage Settings<\/strong><\/li>\r\n
- In the left sidebar, you will see the box below.

- In the Homepage <\/strong>dropdown menu, click the arrow and select the page called Home.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n
- In the Posts page<\/strong> dropdown menu, click the arrow and select the page called Posts<\/strong>.
Note<\/strong>: If you do not intend to publish blog posts, keep the word Select<\/strong> in the options box and no posts page will be designated.<\/li>\r\n- Click the Publish<\/strong> button at the top of the box.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Your new website settings are now in place. From now on, when someone visits your website homepage, the page they will see is the page called \u2018Home\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
To read your blog posts, users will now have to find the posts page. This will have an address that ends in \/posts<\/em>, for example. yourwebsite.com\/posts. <\/em>You may need to add this page to the menus or link to it elsewhere for people to find it easily.
