This article applies to Hyperslice VPS and Hyperslice Cloud Servers.<\/em><\/p>\n

You can set firewall rules for the network interfaces of Hyperslice virtual servers.<\/p>\n

Important: Any rules set here will be executed before any rules configured on the software firewall installed on the server. If a rule appears not to be working, check that you do not have a conflicting rule on your server.<\/p>\n

There are two types of rules:<\/p>\n

ACCEPT \u2013 Allows traffic from the source destination(s)
\nDROP\u00a0\u2013 Blocks traffic from the source destination(s)<\/p>\n

Firewall rules are applied in order from\u00a0first to last, the last being the\u00a0default firewall action.<\/p>\n

If you only want to allow access to specific ports, set the Default firewall action to DROP and then create firewall rules for the traffic you do want to allow.<\/p>\n

Adding a Firewall Rule

  1. Click On\u00a0Firewall Management<\/li>\n
  2. Next to your Interface, enter the following:\n
      \n
    1. Choose Accept or Block for your rule<\/li>\n
    2. Source IP Address\n
        \n
      1. Leavethe\u00a0 field empty to apply this rule to all source IPs<\/li>\n
      2. Enter hyphen-separated IPs to apply the rule to an IP range (e.g. 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.10)<\/li>\n
      3. Enter the IPs with a slash to apply to a CIDR\u00a0 (e.g. 192.168.1.1\/24)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      4. Destination Port\n
          \n
        1. Leave the field empty to apply the rule to all ports.<\/li>\n
        2. Enter colon-separated ports to apply the rule to a port range (e.g. 1024:1028)<\/li>\n
        3. Enter comma-separated ports to apply the rule to the list of ports (e.g. 80,443,21)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        4. Choose the protocol (TCP, UDP or ICMP).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        5. Click\u00a0Add Rule<\/li>\n
        6. Repeat these steps to apply additional rules<\/li>\n
        7. Click\u00a0Apply Firewall Rules to active you rules.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Re-Ordering Rules<\/h3>\n

          1. Use the Up and\u00a0Down\u00a0arrow buttons in the left column to change firewall rule positions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Setting the Default Firewall Rule<\/h3>\n

            The default firewall rule is always processed last. Any traffic that does not match one of your firewall rules will have the default rule applied to it.<\/p>\n

            If you want to explicitly only allow traffic you have specified in your rules, then you should set this to Drop.<\/p>\n

            1. Set Action to Accept or Drop<\/li>\n
            2. Click\u00a0Save Default Firewall Rules<\/li>\n
            3. Click\u00a0Apply Firewall Rules<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
