If you are using the Plesk control panel and you need to use the SMTP connections on an alternate port, Client might think that it is a little difficult to operate; however it is not that difficult. However unlike a cPanel environment, where as while configuring the Plesk to do so must, which is done outside of the control panel via the command line. The procedure mentioned below is complex as required with the basic command line knowledge.

With a new entry, which will need to be created in xinetd for the alternate port to manage different things :
——————————-
cd /etc/xinetd.d
cp smtp_psa smtp_psa_p26
——————————-

Here is the complete entry:
——————————-
vi smtp_psa_p26
——————————-

In the first line you will have to type “service smtp_p26” and save the file

A client has to edit the services for the system that includes the newly created website information.
——————————-
vi /etc/services
smtp_p26 26/tcp mail
smtp_p26 26/udp mail
——————————-
As soon a user makes the necessary changes with the basic editing of the above lines, just restart the xinetd and there server should be listening on port 26. The easy way to verify whether the changes took effect are not done by using the below mentioned command.
——————————-
netstat -lpn|grep 26
——————————-
Always note : A client has to make sure whether the port 26 is open in the firewall.
