Default Firefox 8 Beta 6 now available!

You may only just be getting used to the "Firefox 7" prefix, but as most of us know Mozilla has adopted a faster update cycle to coincide with how Google updates their Chrome web browser. While Firefox 3 released in June 2008, Firefox 4 March 2011 and Firefox 5 in June 2011. And since then, they have adopted a fast update cycle. The current stable version of Firefox as of now is Firefox 7.01 and Firefox 8 beta is under development. The currently released beta of Firefox 8 is beta 6 which includes the following changelog:

    • Add-ons installed by third party programs are now disabled by default
    • Added a one-time add-on selection dialog to manage previously installed add-ons
    • Added Twitter to the search bar
    • Added a preference to load tabs on demand, improving start-up time when windows are restored
    • Improved tab animations when moving, reordering, or detaching tabs
    • Improved performance and memory handling when using
    • Added CORS support for cross-domain textures in WebGL
    • Added support for HTML5 context menus
    • Added support for insertAdjacentHTML
    • Improved CSS hyphen support for many languages
    • Improved WebSocket support
    • Fixed several stability issues

Still seems like even now Firefox is a bit of a resource hog! . Did they ever solve the memory leaking issues?

Although, I still require Firefox during development for testing and the excellent Firebug tool! .
