  • Network Outage

    Dear Valued Customers,

Web Hosting UK had a network outage earlier today. The subnets affected by this are as below.

    1.87.117.*.*
    2.78.129.*.*
    3.92.48.*.*

The first news from the datacenter technicians was that this happened due to problems within these subnets. However, further probing and investigation have given inconclusive evidence of a network failure. Even as I write, the DC team is continuing its work. As and when we have official news from the on-site team, we will share it with you all.

As of now, 87.117.*.* is still down. We will keep you all posted with the progress achieved on this. Thank you for your patience.
    Sincerely,
    Nicolaus Grant

    Dear Customers,

All the mentioned subnets are back to normal now. We still have no official word from the datacenter team. We will update once we have it ourselves. Thank you all for your patience.

Its ok now, i was told that it was a problem with iptables.

Bluesquare datacenter had also some power outages recently. Do you have an update from datacenter if this is going to happen again? Bad Hardware or something?

As I said, we are awaiting an official notification from the datacenter. As and when we get it from them, we will notify on the forum.

Bluesquare 2 went through similar problem that we had last month. UPS responsible for power supply in Bluesquare2 tripped early in the morning at 4.45 GMT and all our servers hosted in Bluesquare2 went down for 30 - 40 minutes.

NOC Team started rebooting all troubled servers manually as some servers failed to boot after restoration of power supply. Such unplanned power cycle on servers creates problems for VPS nodes and this is what happened with 1 of our VPS Hosting node.

We are in process of restoration of data from the failed VPS node, but the drive has got file system errors which is taking some time to rectify. We will let you know once we manage to bring the troubled Linux VPS node online.

                    Hello,

The UPS is going to be replaced completely. The systems are going through a thorough check even as I write in.

I've just upgraded from a VPS to a managed dedicated with webhosting.
I'm hoping they haven't lost my 180+MB database which was just transferred in and can arrange the transfer ASAP .. second day now with no access to anything on the VPS.

The node on which the VPS was created has had huge numbers of filesystem errors, even as I write FSCK is on (95% done). Unfortunately, backup of this server was also running at exactly the time when we had all these problems. We will have to wait until the fsck's are done completely to see about the data.
                        Sincerely,
