We keep getting some requests for unlimited resources so have been wondering: How many of you sell unlimited resources to your customers? Does it really have any effect on the hosting servers?

Is unlimited disk space and bandwidth a good idea?

Won't recommend offering it if you are looking to resell. Although you can have as much space as you want but you rarely need that much of space. You would come across such users who would set their heavy websites on your servers and hamper the server performance.

It's a typical marketing technique as such hosting companies know that users don't really use that much. Their terms will usually mention that the space can be used for hosting website files only. Besides, if they notice websites using too much resources, they would either send you a bill or ask you to upgrade to your own server. So if anyone out there is looking to offer or buy unlimited hosting then be aware and read the terms carefully.

there is nothing unlimited, I distrust companies who offer unlimited space.
email them first say you have a site 60TB used space, if they can transfer it to their servers....

Though, with Cloud you can get near unlimited resources for its ability to scale resources, but it still has certain limitations to how much a cluster can be scaled-up. It's recommended to read the Terms of Service (TOS) before signing up with a hosting service provider who claims to offer such unlimited resources.

Yeah such companies will often mention in the terms that the web space cannot be used for backup data storage or file storage. So if you still plan to offer unlimited resources then you can mention something like this in your terms:
If an acccount imposes an unreasonable or large load on the infrastructure or the services then the host has a right to temporarily suspend the website.
I think that will help prevent the servers from being overloaded.
