What are the benefits of employing a DNS cluster

Hello! Want to know some of the benefits of employing a DNS cluster.

Interviewing for helpdesk: "Explain to me why DNS is important." Candidate: "Well, I could explain it to you, but it'd take 10 minutes, so...." Clearly didn't know what either were for, but had several "Information Security" certs on his resume. Of the last 20 candidates over the years I've interviewed, about 3 of them could explain DHCP/DNS. Many of them had IT related college creds or certifications.
