  • Hyper-V: Cannot Start a VM From ISO File

Recently I have to create a new VM, and this VM need to start from ISO file. I'm facing the following error while I mounted an ISO file and trying to boot.

    Code:
[I]Synthetic SCSI Controller (Instance ID xxxxx): Failed to Power on with Error ‘The version does not support this version of the file format’[/I]

Your ISO file is possibly blocked by Windows. Try the following steps to unblock the ISO file
Start by right-clicking the file >> Properties. Click "Unblock" >> OK/Apply.
If that doesn't work, create a new copy of the ISO file and try again.

Also try on the different machine.

      Consider beginning from IDE.

Just make a copy of the ISO file and then mount the copy instead. That it!

this does not make sense, the underlying disk makes no difference to the VM ARE you sure you are not creating a GEN2 VM (when you say vhdx) and a GEN1 VM (when you say vhd)? and the ISO you're booting off is not EFI/UEFI aware? are you trying to boot (pass through) off the PHYSICAL Kodi nox CD/DVD to the guest?
