  • Which Media Player for Online Streaming?

What is your choice when it comes to selecting the player? I currently use Windows Media Player. Anyone has reviews on Realplayer ? Please shared what player you use.

Obviously when it comes to select a media Player, I prefer Windows Media Player, I have installed a small codec plugin which installs all the audio/video codecs and makes Windows Media Player compatible for all audio/video formats which removes the need of using multiple players for different audio / video formats.

Windows Media Player is not bad for something light, RP is okay but I really have gotten out of using that in the past year or two. I have a few others just in case you come across a random file that "has to" use it, but mostly its just WMP since its simple.

Nope, I tried using it once, however didn't found it user friendly and so uninstalled it from my laptop.

                Hello,

We get a Fast Start and to provide data directly to the buffer at speeds higher than the bit rate(Higher Baud rate) of the content requested with the Windows Media player for online streaming. So from this point of view it shall be preferable than any others.

                Regards,
                Ken,

I prefer VLC, it's more lightweight than Windows Media Player and doesn't cause as much CPU stress.

                    Hello Dan,

Yes that is very correct, the best part of VLC is that it comes with the Mozilla Plugins with the full installation. Broadcasting can be done with a single computer using RTP Unicast to RTP Multicast. VLC is a open source and available for multiple operating systems.

                    Regards,
                    Ken.

What about Adobe Media Player? Anybody ever tried this? Reading this discussion, I was aware that I have it in my computer. I am learning it now.

Personally I've never used Adobe Media Player but have read good things about it. This application is driving the fusion of TV and the Internet, so that we can watch Internet-delivered TV shows and video podcasts. It's also providing a high-quality video playback of streamed, downloaded or locally stored TV shows and video podcasts hence it seems to be promising option to try.
