  • How good is a Domain name having an hyphen ?

I would like to know how good is a domain name having an hyphen in it compared to the domain which doesn't have any ?

will it affect anyway with the search engine display/traffic or seo ?

some inputs would be highly appreciated

Personally, I think they don't look professional. They are hard to remember. However, some domain names require hyphens in the name so their exact meaning can be communicated. But until necessary, I won't recommend using it in your domain name.

Hyphenated Domain names are less likely to be already registered and therefore it becomes easy to register one of these. The problem with hyphens is that they are more difficult to remember. You should consider the fact that customers are more likely to remember your name, not your URL with hyphens

Yeah Hyphenated domains are generally easily available. Most of the good domain names are already taken as we know, Hyphenated domain names are helpful when you need a domain name that is actually registered. you could simply include hyphens and register the domain name. Hyphenated domains are hard to remember but easy to communicate.

Going for a different extension sometines is useful workaround.

.bz - Brazil (commonly used when .biz is unavailable or overly expensive)

              Re:

Names with special characters like hyphens and underbars are harder to describe to customers over the phone. Visitors aren't as used to them either and you may inadvertently send customers to your competitors if they have similar names without special characters!
