    Hey,

If you have knowledge about server management then you can go with unmanaged VPS hosting services. But for reliable and efficient servers management, managed hosting is always good. I know unmanaged hosting is less expensive than managed, but all the management will be by your site.

security will be your only concern which it sounds like you have the basics down pat, maybe a brute force firewall like fail2ban or csf.

An unmanaged VPS hosting can be more cost-efficient as it helps in cutting down the operations by a great margin. You can setup the popular WordPress on the self-managed VPS for running your blog or website.

Follow the below sequence of steps for setting up WordPress on an unmanaged VPS hosting-

    • Once the servers gets activated, obtain the control panel credentials
    • Save the obtained root password
    • Using the credentials login and click on Manage
    • Select the distro with you’re most comfortable and install that distro
    • Connect your server to an SSH client
    • Complete the host field (Username as in root and the previously-saved password)
    • Copy the IP address of your VPS
    • Installing WordPress: Give your domain name to your VPS and here you can find the one-click installer for installing WordPress in your control panel. You can also install WordPress manually and just needs 2-3 minutes for setting it up
    • Saving the WordPress Credentials: You can log in to your website/blog with the login credentials
