    Hello williams_k,

The SFTP is use SSH protocol for transfer of files, We can not use multiple path for transfering data.
In FTPS, We use SSL protection while transfering file and We can use multiple path to transfering of data.

Ftp is the user interface to the Internet standard File Transfer Protocol. The program allows a user to transfer files to and from a remote net-work site.

While Sftp is an interactive file transfer program, similar to ftp, which performs all operations over an encrypted ssh transport. It may also
use many features of ssh, such as public key authentication and compression. Sftp connects and logs into the specified host, then enters an interactive command mode.

The basic difference between the two of them is that the Ftp sends authentication information ( login details ) and file contents across the remote net-work site in unencrypted format, while Sftp transfers the data over a fully encrypted channel.. Covering the security concern..!

While searching over the Internet noted the 2 types for FTPS :
        FTPS-explicit and FTPS-implicit.

Explicit FTPS is an extension to the FTP standard that allows clients to request that the FTP session be encrypted.

Implicit FTPS is deprecated standard for FTP that required the use of a SSL or TLS connection.

FTP :- As all of us know about FTP as its a File transfer protocol. FTP is commonly used to transfer files from their local machine to there hosting account.

As mentioned above that FTP is not that secure for transfering your file to your hosting account, then if you need to go with a secured connection for that a secure protocol for transferring files, could be FTPS

          # FTP should be made more secure (FTPS).

If you talk about what is SFTP then this will be explanation

SSH :- SSH stands for Secure Shell. SSH is a program which is used to login to another computer over the internet, to execute that particular commands in the remote computer, and to move files from one machine to another user used such kind of service. Either, FTP capabilities should be added to SSH (SFTP). Where as SFTP add more secured transfer of client data from one computer to another.
