  • Difference Between Linux & Windows Reseller Hosting

    Hi

I have heard many time about reseller hosting packages but I don't have any idea, what is the basic difference between Linux and Windows reseller web hosting packages ?
Frequently majority of the websites run on either on Windows dedicated server or a Linux-based dedicated servers.

Whats your opinion on the above topic ?

If a website built in asp, asp.net or MS-SQL or if someone is willing to use any Microsoft application like ColdFusion or any other he will have to opt for a Windows Reseller hosting plan. If not, than he can opt for a Linux Reseller hosting plan also. So choosing either a Windows or a Linux based hosting plan depends upon the applications used to built a particular website.

This is something to do with the operating system that you are using. If you are working on a Linux operating system, then you can opt for a Linux based web hosting plan and similarly a Windows reseller hosting plan can be chosen. The difference is only the operating system used. Dedicated servers are a different type of hosting. A reseller hosting plan enables you to start your own reseller hosting business.

The Main difference between Windows and Linux Reseller hosting is about the Microsoft applications. As Windows is a Microsoft application, it supports all other Microsoft applications like ASP, MS-SQL and etc. These Microsoft application can't run on Linux OS. So if anyone wants to use any Microsoft application, he has only one option and that is Windows Reseller plans.

I would prefer Linux web hosting. It is an open source software which is efficient and affordable. It also supports other types of hosting like eCommerce Hosting UK and WordPress Hosting UK thereby the maximum efficiency of web hosting is guaranteed.

Difference Between Linux & Windows Reseller Hosting

As far as features, they can both do most of the same, just in different ways. Linux Servers do not support ASP.NET, while most Windows servers will not run PHP (most...some are able to).

Personally, I think ASP.NET is a quite a bit more powerful than PHP hosting, but that's just because you can use several different languages, and Visual Studio makes development so much easier. Also, ASP.NET has some very awesome bundled features such as the ability to program a login script in very short amount of time. PHP is a little less overwhelming though, and still an extremely versatile and powerful language.

Windows servers are generally quite a bit more expensive to buy space on than Linux, though.

If you have Server Hosting a small-time website, the difference won't be noticeable. You will pull everything off on one that you would the other. If you start developing enterprise level web applications though, you should probably take a harder look at the differences between the two and what you hope to get out of it.
