  • Shoutcast on VPS?

I've got a question for you. Is it possible to run Shoutcast on a VPS server? If it is, is the Starter plan enough for running Shoutcast? Thanks.

I will advice you to go with one of our Dedicated server or to think of at least a Semi-Dedicated server if you are planning to host Shoutcast application.
Shoutcast is very resource hog and it's not recommended to host it on a Virtual servers.

Dedicated hosting is ideal for resource intensive applications, large content rich web sites and high traffic websites. On a dedicated server you have enough resources to run such type of applications. I will highly recommend a dedicated server for this purpose.

I have seen, rather heard, more shoutcast' setup on dedi's than a VPS. Is there any real difference that the average person would notice?

            Hi

Virtaul private server shares resources of main server but in case of dedicated server it has it's own resources. So as compare to dedicated server virtual private server has less resources and that's the reason why some resource intensive programs like shoutcast run more smoothly on dedicated server as compare to vps.

Well, the main difference between the VPS and a Dedicated server is the fact that a VPS is a Virtual Private Server is offered with less resources in comparison to a Dedicated server. Due to this reason, if an application which requires good amount of resources (in this case, Shoutcast ) is hosted on the VPS, the performance would suffer and the users will notice it. If one chooses a Dedicated server, the resources allocated are fully assigned to the owner and the sites due to which the overall performance of the server and the sites hosted is better
