Can anybody explain what is OpenVMS? i read about it somewhere but i am not too suer what it really is?

As per my knowledge OpenVMS is a multitasking and multiprocessing operating system which is based on VMS programs written to the POSIX standard, that includes a set of standard C language programming functions, and it can be ported to any POSIX supporting computer platform.
Among other features, OpenVMS is used with special software that assist its use with widows servers.Grover

Open VMS (Virtual Memory System) is a high end server operating system owned by Hewlett-Packard systems.It is a multiprocessing and multi user virtual memory based OS. It ensures high system availability through clustering.
OpenVMS offers several features such as Integrated Computer Networking, High level security,hardware partitioning of multiple processors etc.
