  • Emails send through PHP Sendmail not ariving at hotmail

I have a php application vbulletin thats installed on my VPS. Any emails sent from my applicication using PHP Sendmail seem to not get through to hotmail.
    Anyone else experienced this?

    ok this was the issue,
Hotmail amongst others seem to be checking new domains/IP ranges due to spam.
The mail sent from Vbulleting was sent from an email address that did not belong to the domain.
once the contact email in vbulletin was set as the same domain the email was being sent from... problem solved

Yes, i did read about this earlier. They generally marked them as spam and didn't go through.

it was a right headache Shane, as this was not the case with the application on its previous shared hosting. It allowed email header to be sent from a different email address than the domain it was being sent from.
I can only assume that these new spam features of certain mail providers have safe lists as well as black lists. And new ip range blocks are checked as they have never been encounterd before.
Its probably a good idea, but there could be a little more information from people like hotmail on issues like this, as its caused me 2 days of investigation to diagnose the issue.

If they give more information on their Anti-Spam service then spammers will be ahead of everyone to get their Servers and Spams whitelisted.

All we can do is assume certain things and try various possible methods to check what gets blacklisted and what is considered genuine.
