extra protection for website

I have the usual anti-virus and firewalls but is there a better software for site protection out there??

Firewall seems to be the best option for protecting your website from external attacks and threats. Always host your website with host who update security patches more frequently and have secure network.

You should get in touch with your web host and ask them for a firewall. Usually hosting providers offer extra firewall as an add- on service.

I guess WHUK too offers a firewall as an add-on, but let me not comment on this. It would be better if someone from WHUK would tell you something on this.

WHUK offers CSF and LFD with all Linux servers iirc.

If you want you can have hardware firewall with your server for better security. You have two options like shared firewall and dedciated firewall.
Hardware Firewall cost for dedicated server :
1. Cisco ASA 5510 Shared Firewall - £ 25 per month
2. Cisco ASA 5510 Dedicated Firewall - £ 199 per month + £199 Setup Fee (one time)
