• PHP enabled?

Hi folks
(newbie question - apologies!)
I have a shared windows hosting account and wish to run some php.

The php file I'm trying to run is in a sub-directory from wwwroot. The sub-directory itself is accessible as I have proved this by running an index.htm file from there.

I can't find any reference to php in dotnetpanel - should it work without doing anything? or what do I need to do please?

Cheers, Dave

Hi,

PHP should be enabled, try and run a file with the following information in it.
<?PHP phpinfo(); ?>
If the file fails to load, contact support

Hi

I created a file called test.php and placed the code you suggested in it. The path works cos index.html in same dir works fine.

Nothing happens.

I note in an account summary file it says 'enabled' for all .php version

Hi Dave.. it's sorted out PHP wasnt enabled for your domain from the control panel, it's under the Control panel > Package > Websites > Extensions section..
Kind regards,
Jack Daniel.

Hi - yes it's working now. great! thanks for fast response. Just one question - when you say /control panel/ do you mean /dotnetpanel/? - which is what I'm using, or is there another one? I can't see any menu option >package>websites>extensions.

There is a "view space summary" report, which has always said php enabled, but there's a problem with that, cos the email send always throws an smtp error.

Dave

Any particular reason why you didn't go for a Linux server if you wanted to run PHP? Just curious as to what makes people choose Windows.

Hi
Fair comment.

The only requirement I have for php is a bought in app I need to run on one of the web sites, and for other sites I need MSAccess.

Hi,

The reason why he is not using a Linux server is that is requirements are ms-access which is Microsoft technology and is supported better by Windows.

Thanks for sharing. Keep Sharing.
