    If you have forgotten Linux password, here is what you should do.

    1. Boot into recovery mode:

    Once the computer boots, select "recovery mode" from the menu. In case, boot menu does not appear press F8

    2. “Drop to Root Shell Prompt”

    Post selecting the recovery mode a drop down menu opens. Select the option “Drop to Root Shell Prompt”

    3. Enter the command

    In the shell prompt, enter the command 'passwd username' to change the password and follow the instructions in the menu.

    You can do it if you have physical access to the machine, just boot with the flags init=1 to go into single user mode, then type passwd and it will let you add a new password =)

    If you don't remember your password the first thing you can do is, contact your web host. They will give you the password

    The normal password is "ROOT". If you don't change the password try this.
