  • Server error or is it me ?

Have been getting this error message intermittently. Goes away after a very short while.

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

Is this a server problem or something I have created in my application ?

    Hello,

First of all apologies for the delay.

This is server side problem, when mysql service goes down on the server then sites/applications are showing this error. Please open a ticket to support [@] webhosting.uk.com with your domain name, so we will investigate further on this.

      Thanks Vasco,

      Glad to know.
I'll wait to see if it happens again, then take your advice.

You're not the only one. My site's gone off with the same error too.

          Hello,

Mysql service is now running smoothly on exeter server. We have suspended database, which was using simultaneously a lot of connections and overloading to server.
Please confirm sites are loading without mysql error

          Regards,

            What is a "lot of connections" ? 20, 200, 2000 ?

Server Exeter was very iffy last night :-(

              Hello e-richard,

We do allow maximum 25 database user connection on the shared hosting server. Some of database users were using all allocated maximum connection as well as were running heavy database query ,which was causing heavy load on the server. After disabling all these database load on the server is normal.
