Yes. Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) drivers should be used to access data from an external database management system.

ODBC can access local databases as well as remote databases.

To create a connection to an external database using a new ODBC driver, follow these steps:
        1. ODBC Data Sources can be found under Tools & Settings > ODBC Data Sources.
        2. Add an ODBC DSN by clicking the Add ODBC DSN button.
        3. In the corresponding fields, type the name and description of the ODBC connection.
        4. In the Driver field, select the required driver.
        5. Click the OK button.
        6. On the driver configuration screen, select the necessary options. Depending on the driver, you should typically specify the database path, user credentials, and other connection parameters.
        7. To see if the connection will work successfully with the specified parameters, click Test. To finish the creation, click Finish.
        That’s it.
