  • cloud Hosting platform vs dedicated hosting platform

Can any one please tell me advantages of cloud hosting over dedicated server hosting. I know that there has been asked for a lot of questions about cloud, but I just trying to fix on a hosting solution and want to know exactly about it before i place an order, security, performance and 100% uptime are my very basic requirements for that.

    Hello,

Cloud server hosting environment makes use of a number of different servers in a cluster to ensure that there will always be at least one server available to cope up with the load on the cluster or to replace a crashed server. The hosting is spread across the entire Cloud and each server is generally assigned to perform a single task meaning that a single cloud hosting account will never be relying on an individual server in the cloud hosting environment. Thus 100% time guarantee can be achieved on the cloud server.

Can you explain to me about the pay as you use option? I don't see any such feature listed on the website or may be I am missing out on something

It is the plan that you can customize the resources for your server. When you need more disc or CPU you can order for a month. i.e. Scalability of the resources available on the cloud server.

Yeah I see it has upgrade options but those are similar to dedicated server like upgrading RAM, HDD and so on. I see the 100% uptime benefit with the cloud plans. It is almost like having your website sit on multiple servers and getting benefits of load balancing.

Up time will be available for sure, and you will not realize the balancing phase, its so quick and seamless that server will never face any downtime.

Cloud hosting and dedicated hosting are two distinct types of hosting services, they can be used according to the specific requirements of the organizations. In case of dedicated hosting, an entire server is dedicated for the hosting requirements of one particular organization. This server is not shared with anyone. Whereas in case of cloud hosting, there is a network of servers and you can host your website on any server. This type of hosting gives access to various resources. In terms of dedicated hosting, you have to pay for all the available resources and in cloud hosting, you only pay for the resources that you have used.

Cloud hosting is a type of web hosting service delivered through multi-server system, also called as Clustered Hosting. Though Cloud hosting is not precisely defined yet however, in general, a cloud hosting can be considered when it is delivered from a completely redundant, group of servers which need dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources to keep the system up.

While in a dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment.

The cloud hosting is ideal for the developer who are in needs reliable platforms to run their applications. While in dedicated server, If you need to upgrade your server, it is usually much easier with a dedicated option.

Cloud servers use a cluster of servers while dedicated servers use single servers. That way they offer 100% uptime. Although with cloud you cannot have as much resources as in a dedicated server. With dedicated servers you can have TB's of HDD.

                        Cloud Hosting VS Dedicated Hosting

Cloud Hosting is a type of application and infrastructure hosting in which dynamically scalable and virtualised resources are provided as a service over the Internet.
Cloud hosting customers do not own the physical infrastructure serving as host to the software platform in question. Instead, they avoid capital expenditure by renting usage from a third-party provider. They consume resources as a service and pay only for resources that they use.

To put it simple, Dedicated servers have limited resources. There is a limit on the number of processors or hard drives that you can put into a dedicated server. You cannot run 100k websites from one dedicated server.

But you can do that with a cloud hosting, as you can add the same server hardware to a cloud, and the power of the cloud will just go on increasing. The resources of all the servers and computers in the cloud are shared, and therefore, a reseller hosting company can virtually host billions and billions of sites in what would look like just 1 server, but which actually is a cloud of several hundreds of servers.

Cloud hosting in a very large scale is highly profitable since management costs would come down, however, the hardware costs would just remain the same.
