    ClamAV is an on-demand scanner, meaning it will only run when you tell it to.

    If anyone wishes to modify this, update the file /etc/clamav/freshclam. conf. In this instance, the check will be done just once a day.

    Can i use Maldet instead of Clamscan? What i understand Maldet detect clamav and use it engine to to scan machine but also with Maldet signatures? Or i must scan by clamscan and maldet? Also what is better manual scan (at night) or daemon?

    ClamAV offers two modes of operation: a programme that loads into memory only when you want to scan a file, and a programme that connects to a daemon that is constantly running for more regular use (such as scanning all incoming e-mail). Updates to the database can be downloaded automatically as well.
