Interesting. I wonder why the most popular and visited websites like Google, Facebook and Wikipedia are behind California Coastline, Metafilter and...Boing Boing? What are the criteria Time used to rank the websites?

Well, I am not too sure about the exact criteria they have used to rank sites, however, time claims that the rankings are given on the basis of sites which help you to navigate, enjoy yourself or just spending some time on the internet including shopping etc. However, most of the users think that the rankings are somewhat weird

LOL Yeah I don't blame them for thinking like that. At least the process seemed to be fair because their own website (Breaking News, Analysis, Politics, Blogs, News Photos, Video, Tech Reviews - TIME.com) doesn't show up on the list. Still, it's weird.

I see. So the ranking is based on the layout, content and the service provided by the website and not based on its popularity? Well, I still think that Facebook deserves higher rank, but it's just me.
