Does anyone have an personal experience on using good ol' reciprocal linking versus circular linking? Or perhaps how to keep a link circle unbroken?

Reciprocal links may bring you a good traffic but would not help you in SEO / SERP ( Google dont give them any importance ) Its better if we try to get one way backlinks from relevant sites so that we can get targeted traffic and SEO benefit.

I always prefer one way linking. With One way linking you don’t have to involve yourself in reciprocal linking.

A reciprocal link is the one that you offer links one-for-one with another website: site A <> site B
It follows a link back mechanism.

This is how Circular links work:
site A >> site B >> site C >> site A

One-Way links are better than Reciprocal Links
Any link that is directed towards your website is considered as a good backlink

If anyone is planning to implement circular linking then make sure that all your websites are not hosted on the same server because as per the search engines its a manipulative way to gain PR and boost the search engine rankings.

Also if you still want link all your websites using circular linking strategy then try to get C class IP address for each website included in this circular linkfarm this way you would get SEO benefit.

Ok so does this means that reciprocal linking will die in some of upcoming years?
Is this ok if we create lots of mini-link rings. ie. circular linking with only 3 or 4 sites but participate in lots of them ?

Reciprocal linking is about to die. Circular linking is good from the SEO point of view as it looks like one-way-link, it can give you benefits, but the sites should be on different servers. Or else you can try out the "C class IP address" suggested by Harry.
