  • Keep domain with existing Registrar

    Hi,

I would like to get the hosting servers solution but I want to keep GoDaddy as my domain registrar, and only point the NS records for the domain, is that possible?

Are there any negative effects by keeping my domain with GoDaddy in this case?

    Thanks,
    Hazel.

Yes you can keep your domain with the current registar. Only you will need to update the Nameservers pointing towards your server with host. There is no negative effects in keeping your domain with Godaddy.
Some users do not prefer transferring the domain name to a new host.

You don't need to have your domain moved to a new registrar to get the server. All you need to do is point to the nameservers that you need to point to and all is done. There shouldn't be any negative effects from doing this.

Some people prefer to keep the domain separate and hosting company separate. This is due to the fact that if you leave your hosting company due to issues some day, you still have your domain name available with a registrar. In that case you choose a new host and change the nameservers with the registrar for your domain name get your site running.

There is no harm in keeping the domain with the hosting company. If your hosting company is reliable then you can keep the domain with the hosts. That wat you are able to manage the domain and hosting from the same place. They will generally provide you with a control panel to manage your domain.

The details of the nameservers will be provided in the welcome email once you place the order for the desired hosting plan. You will have to provide those nameservers to your current domain registrar and ask him to update those. Once that is done, your domain name will be pointed towards our servers.

How much time it will take for the nameservers to get updated and is there any additional cost of doing the same?

It will take around 12-24 hours for the nameservers to get propagated and it does not involve any additional cost.

It is a good idea to keep the domain name with a reliable Domain registrar. Make sure that it's easy to administrate your domain yourself, online, rather than having to call or email your registrar every time you want to make a change.
