Considering that it is a website at initial stage with not much content, I would recommend you to consider Cheap Linux Shared hosting plan to start with. You will also get an e-commerce software which can be installed from control panel. The package details are available at the below link:-

Do you think a BASIC cPanel shared hosting plan can accommodate my needs. What if I use more resources within some month. So in that case what will happen. I need to make sure that my website does not get affected if I use more resources as there should be some option for this. So can you let me know a solution for this ?

You can start with a BASIC Linux Shared hosting plan for now and later on upgrade to a higher hosting plan, as upgrades can be made at any point of time. You will receive a mail from us as soon your bandwidth Strikes 80 % mark, so you can upgrade your hosting plan to a higher one which has more resources allotted to it.Webhosting UK :: Reseller Hosting | Fully Managed Dedicated Server | Webhosting UK Affiliate

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer which is used for transmitting private documents via the Internet in secured way. This is extremely useful on billing systems, contact forms, and e-commerce systems. If you are willing to have Online Transactions via your website, then a SSL certificate is recommended for having secured payment transfers. Having a SSL installed on your website will built enough confidence within your clients to buy products and enter their bank details on your website, as they know that a SSL will help to keep the details very safe and secured.Webhosting UK :: Reseller Hosting | Fully Managed Dedicated Server | Webhosting UK Affiliate

I have seen few URLs with https://, I assume it is something related to SSL. Is it possible to have https://www.mail.mydomain.com ? Also, does it make difference if it is https://www.mydomain.com and https://mydomain.com?

When you install a SSL on your domain name, the url turns to https://www.mail.mydomain.com from http://www.mail.mydomain.com. This will show that you have secured your domain name to have safe payment transactions via your website, so that customers can easily purchase products from your website.Webhosting UK :: Reseller Hosting | Fully Managed Dedicated Server | Webhosting UK Affiliate

If you are trying to save few bucks using Shared SSL, then your domain URL may look unprofessional something like this: https://secure.yourhost.com/~username/
whereas using a dedicated ssl certificate you have a private secure url such as https://secure.yourname.com/UK VPS Hosting || Managed Server Hosting || Reseller Hosting

Yes, if you are going to have online transactions via your website, then you will need to have a Dedicated SSL certificate, shared SSL will be of no use. A Dedicated SSL is recommended to have safe and secure Payment tracsactions.Webhosting UK :: Reseller Hosting | Fully Managed Dedicated Server | Webhosting UK Affiliate
