I'm considering moving reseller hosts. I'm not in the reselling business, more a keen hobbyist - I find a reseller account a good way of doing websites for friends and organisations I am associated with. They are mainly WorPress and Joomla! sites. So, keeping costs down is important but I do appreciate good service and support. I can't fault my current host for support, just a case of being able to find a better deal elsewhere.
Anyway, I host around a dozen or so self-contained sites. My current reseller account is a cpanel account. How easy is it to move files, databases, email accounts, passwords and other settings to WHUK?
Is there a 'process' that would need to be run through or can everything be transferred at once? Is there likely to be any downtime for sites (other than for the dns updates to filter through)?
On a more technical note - my current host runs php as a cgi/fast cgi module which means that file/directory permissions are 'less than' they would be on a setup where php is an apache module. Would this be a problem when everything is transferred?
Also - some of the sites use WordPress MU - can you handle dns wildcards to allow automatic subdomains?
I look forward to hearing from someone.
John
