Access to IPS tag ?

I never tried this before but just wondering if we get access to update the IPS tag of my UK domains so that i can move the registry across?

I haven't came across any registrar allowing to update the IPS tags. Usually you need to place a request to your domain registrar to change the tag for moving the domain registry.

Right, most domain registrar do not allow direct access to IPS tag.

If users had the access to change IPSTAG for their domains I wonder how many domains would become registrar-less It is basically an authorization key which can be used by the gaining registrar and used as a unique label by each registrar.

I read somewhere that there are few domain registrar who do offer access to IPStag stuff to give you more flexibility and freedom

Yes, there are few domain registrar who provides you the access to update the tags.. like 123-Reg, Siteground etc... Just to inform you that you may need to pay the applicable domain transfer fees to the new registrar.

It is definitely not a good idea to provide control to change the IPS tag. This may lead to a lot of confusion

An IPS tag change should be almost instant. Some registrars may have some kind of a queuing system for tag change requests, but even still it should only take 24 hours maximum.
