    Due to less manufacturing design, AMD's R & D expenses are substantially lower. Conversely, Intel will develop a variety of architectural configurations. They make greater investments in R&D, production, etc.​

    Even at the top end, Intel's offerings aren't bad, but chip for chip, AMD delivers more cores for the same price.

    AMD used 66 more watts overall than Intel! This (according to TomsHardware data) would seem to show that Intel is more conservative than AMD when it comes to reporting its power efficiency numbers.

    The AMD vs. Intel competition is well-defined: AMD processors are superior because they have more cores and threads if your software and workloads can benefit from them.
