  • IMAP or still using POP ?

As the title suggest.. just wanted to know if you are still using POP mail services and why? I've moved to IMAP recently and is good option.

Well, its all about personal wish, if you wishes to access the emails in the offline mode then POP3 is the best and widely used option. But if you want to be connected to your mailbox in realtime and want to avoid data usage for downloading emails then IMAP is the best option.

Following are some best advantages of POP 3 :

◙ Email is available when you are offline
◙ Email is not stored on the server, so your disk usage on the server is less.
◙ Its supported by the all mail clients.

It would be essential for mail clients like Outlook as well. So it is better to use POP3. The ability to read your emails offline is a great benefit.

IMAP is like accessing the emails through remote location which I find very convenient and it also saves a lot of space We use it because multiple people manage a few of our mailboxes so IMAP is quite flexible for us. We do have POP3 too but then I am personally very used to to IMAP.

IMAP accounts are great for syncing data between multiple devices and for making sure that your mailbox looks the same when you log in through the web interface. If you check your email from a mobile device and a desktop this option may save you time in managing your email data.
