What is the difference between a static IP and a shared IP? What are the reasons that you would want to have one or the other, and which one is the best?

I think you are referring to dedicated server IP and shared server IP. A shared ip is shared with other users on the same server.. A dedicated IP as the name says is dedicated to a website. -
Is it possible to have more than one static IP for a dedicated server? You know, if you want to host multiple websites but have each one get there own IP adress?Comment

This is another IP address bounded on the server and assigned for specific or multiple domains under same account. If you put this IP in the browser's address bar and try to access it, you get assigned domain's default page.
Domain needs Dedicated IP address for the Private SSL Certificate installation. Dedicated IP address is also beneficial if shared IP address is blocked by any organization, ISP for the spam or abuse activities.
