I keep an eye on both the account for website traffic and visitors details,i found analytics to be more modest and accurate with visitor statistics than AW . I'm going to probably diplomatic by staying with both the statistics.

cPannel AWstat, and the reason is because I have never bothered with Google Analytics, so truth be told I can not really make any sort of propper comparison between them.

Google Analytics is one of the most trusted hit tracking and analytics software used with in the market from last few years. Google offers free analytics software. Includes tight integration with AdWords

There are plenty of other tracking software too such as :-

mviSPY – Real-time analytics that track conversions and visitor identities.

Webstats PRO – A full-featured analytics package that includes click path analysis, campaign tracking, and complete traffic monitoring capabilities.

LoadStats – Provides two different packages that include basic page view and visitor tracking along with geo-location, ad tracking, and more.

Webstats BASIC – A free analytics program that tracks visitors and trends and has exportable reports.

Opentracker.net – Real-time visitor monitoring and web statistics.

eWebAnalytics – Comprehensive, free package that tracks unique visitors, conversions, average click-paths, traffic history, bounce rates, and virtually everything else that you could want in an analytics solution.

Google Analytics is better than AWStats, however, I will stick to AWStats for atleast next few months

Googles offering is fairly decent, but my biggest gripe is that it is dependant on those tracking cookies. Leading to differences between what Adsense says was shown to people and the number of pags visited according to Analytics. With more users opting to use private browsing the disparity is going to get worse.

I don't think you can compare awstats and google analytics. I have used both and the data is inevitably different. You’ll notice that AWstats figures will be much larger. Awstats is a Web Server traffic analysis tool. Google Analytics is more of business focused. It's good but we should keep AWstats running.

It is best to use two log/stats applications. I totally agree that the results vary. Webalizer is another great web site traffic usage statistics software. It runs extremely fast. Awstats is preferred by network administrators and engineers as well.

Google Analytics is great with AWStats not far behind. I would recommend using them both because they are both extremely useful in their own ways .

Google Analytics is available for free and offers excellent details which I think are enough. Also, AWStats is offered for free with cPanel control panel and hence it can be used as well so a combination of both of them will do the work for you
