  • How to Restore Missing FTP Interfaces in cPanel

Remember:Your server's RPM-based services may be set to un-managed even if you did not change the RPM's target settings. For more information, read the Why is my service's RPM set to un-managed?

If your server's FTP service is set to un-managed, you may experience problems with cPanel's FTP-related interfaces. This is due to the fact that, in cPanel & WHM version 11.40 and higher, cPanel uses a touch file to determine whether FTP interfaces are visible in cPanel. FTP-related interfaces are also visible only if FTP is enabled for the cPanel user.

Warning:This document describes an unsupported workaround. It is not guaranteed to work in the future. We strongly recommend that you return FTP services to a managed state.

    Resolve the touch file problem

You will need to use the touch command to create the /var/cpanel/dynamicui/ftp file. Its presence will indicate to cPanel's interfaces that FTP is enabled for cPanel users.

To do this, run the following commands:

    1. mkdir -p /var/cpanel/dynamicui/

    2.touch /var/cpanel/dynamicui/ftp

Remember:One of the likely causes of this problem is that the unmanaged FTP RPM deleted the file as part of an upgrade. Because of this, make certain that you run this command after any updates or upgrades. You may need to run this command often in order to prevent the recurrence of the problem.
