  • How to Install cPanel Plugins

Plugins allow you to add links in the cPanel interface to your own applications or third-party software.

Note: For more information about how to develop your own cPanel plugins, read cPanel Plugins documentation.

    Install Plugin
    Important:
You must run all of the commands in the steps below as the root user.

To install a new plugin, perform the following steps:
    1) Generate a plugin installation file in WHM's cPanel Plugin File Generator interface ( Home >> Development >> cPanel Plugin File Generator ).

    2) Copy the plugin installation file to your server.

Note: We strongly recommend that you copy the file to the /usr/local/cpanel/bin/ directory.

    3) Run the following command to register your plugin, where PATH is the full path to the installation file on your server:
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/register_cpanelplugin PATH

    4) Log in to cPanel to verify that the plugin appears in the cPanel interface. If the plugin icon does not appear, you may need to rebuild cPanel's icon sprites.

    Rebuild cPanel's icon sprites
If the plugin icon does not display in the cPanel interface after you install the plugin, or if you modify the icon, you must rebuild cPanel's icon sprites.
To rebuild cPanel's icon sprites, run the following command as the root user:
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/rebuild_sprites

    Uninstall plugins
To uninstall a plugin, run the following command as the root user, where PATH is the full path to the installation file on your server:
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/unregister_cpanelplugin PATH
