    The software was created by Igor Sysoev and publicly released in 2004. Nginx is free and open-source software, released under the terms of the 2-clause BSD license.

    Imagine calling a company phone number and then the extension to get to a specific person you want to talk to. That’s basically nginx working as a reverse proxy. The company phone is equivalent to the destination IP address. The URL your using is equivalent to the extension you’re dialing. If I go any deeper the 5 year old requires some basic networking knowledge. Not sure if that’s common knowledge yet but I know we’re getting there
