Thanks Mark for valuable information. I do have same number (bl-5c) battery and it's made in China, but still I will try to get it replace from the Nokia.

How those batteries passed through the inspection & quality process! Shocking

Well, not all batteries with this code are hazardous according to Nokia only batteries manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006 are the risky and could explode due to overheating.

I won't be surprised to see if this battery issue favors Nokia Sales in coming months. This kind of publicity, tough negative turns out to be good for big bullies like Nokia.

Nope, I think this will lead to drop their sale figure in coming months rather boosting it!

Now I won't prefer Nokia as my next phone. It could be Sony or Motorola.

Paul - unless you are able to recharge your phone by putting it in your trouser pocket (maybe through electrostatically charged underwear) you should be ok

That would be a smart move Alan, but most of the batteries of all leading cell phones are manufactured in China. With cheap labor rates and low manufacturing cost is somewhat reducing he quality of a product.
I'm not sure about Sony but Motorola does use Batteries that are manufactured in China.

Keep this thread updated if such problem arises with any other Mobile company and specially if Moto.

Then better I should ask to James where his Motorola battery made in?

I think the phrase; 'Life is Change' suits to all mobile users. So keep changing till you find the best one for you.
