  • How Microsoft Beat Linux in China

The strong relationships of Bill gate within the Chinese government and opening a major research center in Beijing, completely changed Microsoft’s fortunes in China. Today, the Chinese government uses a version of Windows that includes its own custom cryptography software. In Beijing, where many of the workers avoided Red Flag Linux and used a pirated version of Windows instead, the government has taken inventory of pirated software and forked over cut-rate licensing fees to Microsoft. I think if they cut-rate in licensing fees they may get similar response from other countries too.

    You are right Paul,
To sustain in market they will have to cut-down their licensing fees as Linux(freeware) is getting more popular and eating up it's share.

Yes, Microsoft seems trying to find a formula to capture a large market of open source technology and evolve around.

Yup friends I agree that they should cut down the prices but they have to fight with huge piracy of windows specially in Asia.
Everything is important which is beyond my knowledge!

I think if they (microsoft) reduce their prices then people will buy license copy rather then going behind pirated copies
Piracy is all over the world not just in Asian countries, some do music piracy some go video while some try to use pirated softwares making them freely available to whole world.
