Q. Are backups included for shared and reseller hosting?

Ans: Web Hosting UK backs up each system every day. The backups are available for complete system failure only. Customers requesting file restores will not be charged extra to retrieve data. We also offer off site backup storage service which will allow you to configure daily incremental or weekly full backups. You can view the backup plan details at http://www.webhosting.uk.com/backup.php

Q. What will happen if I use the complete allocated web space ?

Ans: Your website will continue to work even if you reach the limit of your disk space quota.

Cpanel will send automated email notifications once you reach disk quota limits. If you ignore those notifications your website will continue to work but incoming emails will get bounced and no new records will be added to your database.

Only solution to this is to upgrade to next web hosting higher plan for getting more disk space.

To upgrade your website hosting package please contact our Billing Department through HelpDesk or Live chat support.

Q. Do you provide ssh access with the shared hosting plans ?

Ans: We do NOT provide direct root ssh access with our shared web hosting plans but we can provide Jailshell access. Jailshell is a very limited shell that allows clients to login to the server via SSH. It limits the clients to their home directories, keeping the rest of the files on the server from being viewed.

If you need root SSH access or administrator RDP access you can consider our Virtual Private Servers or Semi-dedicated servers or Dedicated Servers as they allow total control and flexibility.

Q. Will I be able to access the server via FTP and via IP address prior to changing the nameservers ?

Ans :- Yes, you can access the server through FTP or an IP address prior to changing the nameservers. And you can preview your website with a temporary URL.

[ http://ipaddress/~your username ] before changing your nameservers.

You can also load your website, recode the pages for the new database and test it all before it goes live.

Q. How to setup a cron?

Ans: Go to: http://yourdomain.com/cpanel and then select “Cron Jobs.”

Q. Can I host two different websites under one account?

Ans: Yes, you can host two different websites under one hosting account but for that you have to create an add-on domain, when you want to host 2 different site under same web hosting plan (cPanel hosting) you will have to use the add-on domain feature which is provided with your package. This domain would be created under your main domain. You can also add unlimited email account to your domain through cPanel.

Q. How do I upload my site made with Dreamweaver ?

Ans: Once you sign up, you would be provided with the FTP login details. You can use these details to upload your website. Make sure that you upload your contents inside public_html directory.

Q. Account Upgrades. Is there any fee for extra disk space and monthly bandwidth?

Ans: If you want to increase your disk space or monthly bandwidth quota then you will need to upgrade to the next higher plan and the difference will be charged to you.

We don’t provide additional disk space or bandwidth with any of our shared, reseller, vps or semi-dedicated web hosting plans.

For ex: If you are using the higher shared hosting package and you need extra disk space or bandwidth then you will have to upgrade to either vps hosting or semi dedicated or Dedicated Server whichever is suitable for your need.

Q: What is the geographical location of your shared metered-servers?

Ans: All our servers are located in world-class Blue Square Datacenter based in Maidenhead which is 20 Miles West of London, UK. Our network transit connections are currently to Level 3, Tiscali, and Deutsche Telekom. We also peer with approximately 150 ISPs at the peering points LINX, XChangePoint, and LoNAP.

Q. How do I create my email account ?

Ans: To create your email account, go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/cpanel and type your username and password. Click on add/remove email in the cPanel menu.
