This is one of the often unanticipated problems faced by clients. If a client or web masters switch to dedicated web hosting server, even when upgrading with the same web hosting company we will focus on the use of MySQl database.

If you are planning to switch to dedicated hosting you should obviously back up all your website files and your Mysql databases. The former can be done via FTP but your databases should be ‘dumped’ using php MyAdmin this can be achieved by logging on to phpMyAdmin selecting your database and clicking export, you will then be taken to the export page and should select ‘save as file’ ‘compression none’ and then go. Your database will then be dumped to the download file on your hard drive.

If you’re moving your web hosting account to a dedicated server . As you are also planing to move your MySQL databse to the new dedicated server which is gonna be MySQL5 server, there going to be few changes you’ll have to make the necessary changes. You have to make some necessary chaneges to your php configuration script as well to tell your php script how to connect to the new database.

Majority of php apps client use these days include a config.php file – the name can vary some what so refer to your documentation for your application to find out where your configuration file is located. If you can locate your config.php by connecting through you FTP account as well. If you’ve been hosted on a shared hosting server.

Your config file contains lines that probably look something like this:

It contains th sql hostname,user login,password,sql name.and with in the config file you can see the files like this.

$sqlHost=”localhost”;
$sqlUserLogin=”your-domain-name”;
$sqlPassword=”yourpasswordhere”;
$sqlName=”your-domain-name”;

May be the database you’re using could not be located on the same server as your web files, you need to tell the php application to look for your database on our new server – db.localhost.com.

The updation in your MySQL database are going to do on the files would look like this:

$sqlHost=”db.localhost.com”;
$sqlUserLogin=”your-domain-name”;
$sqlPassword=”yourpasswordhere”;
$sqlName=”your-domain-name”;

This could help you to migrating your localhost MySQL to a dedicated server web hosting.

Q. Do you provide Custom Branded Dedicated Servers?

Ans: Yes. Webhosting UK provides Custom Branded Dedicated Servers. These servers are servers with custom IP whois information in the IP whois look up. Custom branded dedicated servers is mainly a concept designed for medium and large web hosting providers.

For example: A reseller hosting provider uses private nameservers to hide his actual hosting provider’s details from his clients and to portray that he himself is the web hosting provider. Similarly medium and large webhosting providers prefer dedicated servers with custom whois information to not let their customers know, or easily find out, where their services are located. Such Dedicated Servers with “custom” whois information in the IP whois are called custom branded dedicated servers. With custom branded dedicated servers your customers won’t know that you get the hosting service from us. We remain completely in the background and management of the server hardware and software will be taken care of by us.

We can not offer Custom branded dedicated servers with the standard number of IP address we provide on a server. It’s not possible to rename IP whois information of few IP’s. This service is not available with Semi-Dedicated or Virtual Private Servers or Shared hosting. Customer who wants to opt for custom branded dedicated server will need to buy complete IP subnet.

Contact us through 24×7 Live Chat or call today to discuss custom branded dedicated server solution with WebHosting UK on 0808-262-0855, or request a quote online.

You do not have to purchase or maintain your own equipment.

Better website performance b’coz you are not sharing the server resources such as processor power, memory and hard disk space with other web sites on the same server.

No chance of your website being affected by another website on the same box, as in shared web hosting environment.

As nobody else has access to the dedicated server you can be sure of having a much greater degree of security.

If you need to install customize or third party software/applications or configure the server to your own particular needs then often a dedicated server is the solution.

Dedicated Server has its own unique IP address.

You can upgrade the server resources like Memory, Disk Space, Bandwidth or Processors as the need arises.

What is SQL Server Hosting ?

The phrase SQL server hosting can refer to a MySQL or MSSQL database software program that supports the Structured Query Language (SQL) or it could mean a dedicated database server with a version of SQL loaded on it. There are several versions or dialects of SQL as a software program, including MySQL, MS SQL (which also is called Microsoft SQL server) and PostrgreSQL. All of them use the standard SQL language as a base, but then add their own unique extensions to create a unique SQL server language.

SQL Server as Database Server

As a database server, Microsoft SQL dedicated server, is among the most popular in use. A SQL server is relatively inexpensive compared to other database servers, such as Oracle, and is capable of handling most databases. Oracle still has an edge over SQL server in very large databases.

What is Web Server ?

Web Server is basically what most people refer to when they say ‘server’. The basic function of a web server to is host and show up web pages over the Internet via a web browser. This usually involves a web server program such as Apache or IIS on a single physical server or it can be part of a cluster of multiple databases, applications and web servers configured to act as a single unit.

Web Server Foundation

Although there are many ways to implement a web server the most common way with the help of which a web server provides web pages over the Internet is by storing the content of the web page files on the hard drive of the server. The web server then provides these stored files using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to visitors who request it through their web browser as a web page.

Many web servers also include functions such as email, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), scripting languages support and other programs which are useful in creating web pages. A web server can also be used to act as the front-end for application servers and to provide access to application programs. In other words a web server is an integral part of making applications available via the web.

When numerous small web hosting accounts are created on a single web server it is called shared hosting. When the web server has only one user and it is dedicated only to his websites, it is called a dedicated web server or dedicated server hosting. A dedicated web server can also be used as a part of a cluster to improve throughput and reliability.

Web Server Hosting

A web server can be hosted in corporate data centers, but the trend is to outsource them to hosting companies for increased reliability, security, 24/7 monitoring, Server management and to lower the overall costs. So when looking for a web server provider look for one who has a tier 1 data center for increased levels of redundancy and improved system uptime.
