Windows VPS Hosting

Q. What is the contention ratio of your Virtual Private Servers (VPS) Hosting ?

Ans: The contention ratio is the amount of vps users we put on the same vps node. Some vps hosting providers practice the nasty habit of overselling; that is, creating as many vps hosting accounts onto the same vps node as possible and praying that they don’t all use their dedicated resources at the same time. That is not what we do. Even if all the vps hosting users on one of our VPS nodes were to use 100% of their vps hosting resources simultaneously, there would be enough to go around with plenty to spare. You can rest assured that your vps hosting account will always be stable and unaffected by the actions of any other Webhosting UK VPS hosting user.

What is guaranteed RAM?

Ans: Guaranteed RAM is not a limit, but a minimum availability of RAM for your VPS. No matter how much RAM other VPS’s use, this amount is available to you at all times. A great advantage of using VPS technology is that your VPS is able to burst over its guaranteed amount of RAM.

For more info on Burstable RAM refer the following link: http://www.webhosting.uk.com/knowledgebase/what-is-burstable-ram/

What do you mean by ‘burst RAM’?

Ans: Bursting means that while you are always guaranteed a certain amount of system resources, far more is available on each box than simply these guarantees. Hence, should you require your loads to spike higher than your guarantees, as long as the resources are available on the box at that time, you can use them, up to your ‘burst’ level. We are constantly monitoring the loads of each server to make sure that nothing is oversold, and that customers always have their guaranteed resources.

We make sure that an ample amount of burst resources are always available on each host machine. Your burst allottment is not the same thing as your resource guarantee. You cannot count on constant, sustained utilization of your burst resources. If your VPS constantly requires greater resources than your package guarantees, we can work with you to quickly upgrade you to a package with greater guaranteed resources.

Ans: You can have us install Tomcat on your VPS however do take note that Tomcat and Java application takes up all available RAM and CPU resources and in almost any virtual environment, potentially making your VPS quite slow. Your experience with your VPS account may not be pleasant as a result of this. So, we recommend running Tomcat on a Dedicated Server .
