Default SSL Certificates

I notice the shared hosting includes 'Shared SSL'. Can I secure a log in page with that? Is the certificate supported by all browsers? Or do I need 'Dedicated SSL'?

My aim is to secure all files in the following folders
demo.bookingac.com/secure/
whatever1.bookingac.com/secure/
whatever2.bookingac.com/secure/
whatever3.bookingac.com/secure/

Must I have something like the 'RapidSSL Wildcard' certificate in order to secure multiple subdomains? If so, can I use that with shared hosting?

I need this to work in a similar way to my Web site here

Yes, Our shared hosting packages includes 'Shared SSL" and it is free but you will need to use a URL as shown below :

URL : https://serverhostname/~username/

Where as with Dedicated SSL:

Secure Domain: https://yourdomainname.com

Most people prefer to use dedicated SSL as it looks more professional and can improve as well as develop and built customer confidence. Dedicated SSL also show that the SSL Certificate is in your company name and dedicated to your website.

Yes, you can do it for the sub-domains too. Dedicated SSL is an addon package which is installed for the domain and you can do it for Shared Hosting Package. You may order Dedicated SSL from WebHosting.uk.com through the link below :

WebHosting.uk.com - List of SSL Certificates.

Sierra.

Lightbulb Buying Your Own SSL Certificate

Is it possible for me to buy my own wildcard certificate from clickssl.com ($125 approx. with promotion) or from rapidssl.com ($199) and have it installed on my shared hosting?. £200 per year for the certificate would be a bit much whilst I am still testing my Web application.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, it is possible to get SSL from third party certificate registrar and provide us certificate key to install on your website.

You will have to provide us the information to generate CSR so you can provide that CSR to certificate authority to generate SSL certificate for specific domain.

@cmsesan1,
Well, you will also have to get a dedicated IP for required domain on which you are planing to install SSL certificate.

Correct. If you wish to install SSL certificate on the domain name, the domain should have a Dedicated IP address assigned to it.

If you purchase an SSL certificate from another provider, you need to purchase a Dedicated IP address from WHUK for the SSL certificate, however, if you purchase an SSL certificate from WHUK, you will get a Dedicated IP address for free with it
